Bullis Girls Run No. 5 All-Time 4x100; Asinga Blasts 10.10 In the 100m By Todd Grasley of DyeStat The Bullis School MD girls made the trek down from Maryland and torched the track at the Pepsi Florida Relays with a US#5 all-time performance of 44.67 in the 4x100 relay with a quartet of Payton Payne, Jade Ofotan, Kennedy Flynn, and Mirai Bernard. Both teams were stride for stride heading into the final exchange, but Montverde Academy was able to hang on for the win in a US#6 all-time mark of 3:37.28. The Bullis School was second in a US#11 all-time finish of 3:37.98.
The MVA squad of Hodge, Smith, and freshman Elise Dickinson, and Alivia Williams shattered the Florida Relays meet record of 3:39.95 set by Miami Northwestern in 2019 and the state record of 3:38.26 set by St. Thomas Aquinas in 2014. Montverede's Asinga Ascends All-Time 100m List A week after running 10.06w at FSU Relays, Montverde Academy senior and Texas A&M signee Issam Asinga recorded his first wind legal 100 meter dash of the outdoor season, and he did so in record fashion once again. Asinga looked up to a blazing 10.10 on the scoreboard, breaking the meet record of 10.15 set by Anthony Schwartz, and moving up to sixth on the all-time list. The 200-meter indoor national record holder trails only Jaylen Slade (10.09), Schwartz (10.09), J-Mee Samuels (10.08), Jeffery Demps (10.01) and current record holder Trentavis Friday (10.00) Other Notable Performances Include: >> Bullis School senior Morgan Bridges jumped a US#3 40-6.25 in the triple jump. Bridges hit the massive mark on her third jump. >> Nathan Cumberbatch of Wisconsin won the boys 800 meter run with a US#3 time of 1:50.33. Future Florida Gator Miguel Pantojas of Hagerty FL was second in state leading and US#5 time of 1:50.92. >> Atlantic junior Preston Kuznof launched the javelin with a FL#1 and US#3 mark of 201-8. Aidan Broussard of Niceville was runner-up with a US#5 throw of 197-6. * The Miami Northwestern boys 4x400 meter relay clocked a state leading and US#5 mark of 3:13.26. * Cambridge Christian freshman Eliana Black continued her unbeaten streak int the 1,600 meters, winning in a new personal best and state leading time of 4:49.96 (US#12). Black is one of the top distance standouts in the country and coming off of a state-leading 3,200 meter performance of 10:30.18 set at the FSU Relays.
